Adopt

At the Humane Society of Walden, we care deeply about the placement of our cats and dogs into loving homes where they can thrive. Our multi-step pet adoption process focuses on helping families find the best match for their lifestyle and home.

If you wish to adopt one of our shelter friends, your first step is to fill out an adoption application. Be sure to alert your references, vet and landlord that you’ve applied so they will all be expecting our call.  Once your application is approved, we will schedule a visit!

Things can get a little crazy here at times. Following this process works best for our staff to set aside time to match you up with the best fit. Our number one priority is keeping all pets in our care safe. So unfortunately we can’t allow snuggling of puppies or kitties that aren’t fully vaxxed yet, we would be besides ourselves if they got sick.

If you currently have a dog at home and are looking to adopt a canine friend, a staff supervised introduction will take place between your dog and the adoptable dog. A proper introduction is important when 2 or more dogs meet for the first time.

We request a donation of $275 for dogs, $450 for puppies, $125 for cats, and $150 for kittens. The adoption donation is put towards the cost of feeding, spaying or neutering, de-worming, testing, vet care and vaccinating your new pet. All pets are microchipped.

All cats and dogs leaving the shelter must be spayed or neutered before going home with you.

Humane Society of Walden's FIV+ and FeLV+ cats

Our FIV+ and FeLV+ cats are all healthy and beautiful and are some of the most loving, affectionate cats we have ever met – but most of them have been waiting a long time to be adopted, just because people who don’t know any better are afraid of the virus they carry. Please consider adopting one of these wonderful cats! If you meet them, you will fall in love!
